Our Work
The board of the Texas Doula Association is made up of full-spectrum doulas who are skilled in research, communication, networking, coalition-building, and policy advocacy. They have backgrounds in for-profit and not-for-profit doula work, are trainers and mentors of new professional doulas, and some have experience with Medicaid-managed care providers. Interested in joining the board? Contact us here!
Using these skills and expertise, TDA drafted legislation in the 88th Texas Legislative Session and provided feedback on other legislation that moved through the House and Senate. Now that the regular session is over, TDA looks forward to collaborating with TDA Members to organize doulas and ensure our voices are heard in future legislative sessions.
In collaboration with doulas across the state of Texas, TDA is working towards:
Proposing and advocating for laws that support doulas
Ensuring low barriers to doula work while upholding a high standard of care
Creating policies that support the doula profession
Support for doulas interested in billing Medicaid or other insurance
Creating a Medicaid doula registry for families
Supporting Medicaid billing logistics
Linking doulas to continuing education
