  • DeAnna VonBartheld

    DeAnna Ernestine Vonbartheld is a Full Spectrum Doula specializing in infertility and placenta encapsulation, providing services through her company, DelvaDoulas. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Humanities with a Pre-Medicine concentration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her extensive background in science is complemented by expertise in complementary healthcare modalities, including nutrition, aromatherapy, and natural comfort measures. DeAnna co-founded the San Antonio Black Doula Collective, serving as Chief Operating Officer (COO), and is also a Co-founder and the Vice President of the Texas Doula Association. In these roles, she is dedicated to advancing the doula profession and actively engages in legislative efforts related to doula practices.

    Morgan Miles

    Morgan Miles is an Austin-based birthworker, social worker, member of the Maternal Health Equity Collaborative, and Executive Director of the community based doula organization, GALS. She creates a lasting difference in people’s lives by bringing over a decade of birth, leadership, and changework experience, coupled with a trauma-informed, anti-racist, and family-centered lens. Morgan believes that in order to eliminate birth and perinatal health disparities, we have to work at every level- direct care, systems work, and legislative action. She also believes that true, lasting change takes place in community, where humanness is centered and joy is abundant.

    Darline Turner

    Darline Turner is physician assistant by training with a BS in Biology from Tufts University and a Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Duke University. She’s been a full spectrum doula for over 15 years, and specialized in supporting high risk mothers via her private practice Mamas on Bedrest & Beyond until 2019. In 2017, Darline founded and established Healing Hands Community Birthing Project (HHCBP), a 501c3 community based full spectrum birth support project and workforce development company.

    As the Executive Director of HHCBP, she is a founding member of the Maternal Health Equity Collaborative (MHEC) of Central Texas. She is also a founding board member of the Texas Doula Association (TDA).

    Darline is mom to 2 college students of whom she is extremely proud, and one geriatric“furbaby” CJ who is her constant companion and support. When she’s not working in the community, she enjoys cheering on her kids on in their professional pursuits, walking with CJ,cycling, Inyengar Yoga and cooking to cool Jazz and R&B.

  • Carrie Murphy

    Carrie Murphy is a full-spectrum doula, mother, and writer. She has been a doula since 2012 and has supported families through all kinds of reproductive experiences in several states and cities around the country. Her writing on pregnancy, birth, and parenting has appeared in publications like Elle, Glamour, Women’s Health, and Healthline. Active in advocacy for doulas, Carrie is a co-founder of the New Mexico Doula Association, a co-founder of the University of New Mexico Hospital Volunteer Birth Companion Program, and a board member of the Texas Doula Association. From 2020-2023, she worked as the Director of Community and Doula Services for doula startup Major Care. She lives in Austin, where she enjoys hiking with her family and learning plant medicine. 

  • Melanie Sandoval

    Melanie Sandoval is a passionate maternal health advocate, full-spectrum doula, and community leader with over five years of experience in the field of perinatal care. She is deeply committed to addressing and reducing the disparities that exist in maternal and infant health, particularly among marginalized communities. Through her work, Melanie has built a reputation for providing culturally competent support and empowering individuals and families during the birth process. As a full-spectrum doula, Melanie supports families through all stages of the reproductive journey, from conception through postpartum. She has worked tirelessly to ensure that families receive the care, attention, and resources they need for a positive birth experience. One of her significant contributions to the field includes establishing a comprehensive childbirth education program at a free-standing birth center, where she helps equip families with the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed decisions. In addition to her hands-on work as a doula and educator, Melanie is also a dedicated advocate for expanding access to doula services across Texas. As a board member of the Texas Doula Association, she works to raise awareness about the importance of doulas in improving maternal health outcomes and advocating for policies that support equitable care for all families. Throughout her career, Melanie has partnered with several organizations, including Sueños Sin Fronteras, to foster collaboration and build community among perinatal professionals. Her work with these organizations helps to create a supportive network of birth workers who are united in their mission to provide culturally relevant and equitable care to underserved populations. A first-generation Mexican American, Melanie understands the unique challenges faced by immigrant and Latinx communities in accessing quality healthcare. Her personal experience as a mother of three has fueled her passion for improving maternal health outcomes and reducing maternal mortality rates, particularly within communities of color. Through her work, she is determined to make a lasting impact on the lives of families and to ensure that every person has access to the care and support they deserve during one of the most transformative times of their lives. Melanie’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare continues to guide her work and advocacy, as she strives to create a more inclusive and supportive maternal health system for all.goes here
