The Texas Doula Association develops, supports, and advances the doula profession in Texas

We believe that doulas are valuable to all Texans and work to increase access to doula care through advocacy, policy, and community. It is key that doulas have a voice in all decisions regarding maternity care, including and especially those governing our profession.

What is a Doula?

A doula is a professional that supports families through transitions like fertility, birth, postpartum, and end of life.

Doulas are trained professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, informational, and advocacy support to parents and families. While doulas are not medical providers, we are part of the care team—helping families with the support and education they need to make informed choices for their care throughout fertility, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
